Monday / Tuesday- Empathy -vs- Sympathy. Students will watch short student created video clips on Empathy/Sympathy and discuss the importance of knowing the difference. Students will complete activities related to the videos and discussion as a group and independently.
Wednesday - Students will participate in a lesson created by NSU intern over Optimistic/Pessimistic/Unrealistic thinking. Collaborative activity and independent activity will be required by students. Thursday/Friday - Study Hall - Students will work on missing assignments or read.

Monday - SMART goals for April and Study Hall
Tuesday - Role models, friends and cliques. Students will complete classroom activities, classroom discussion and follow up worksheets. Wednesday - Mind-Up Students will participate in a hands on group activity with the student teacher in Mind Up lesson #11. Thursday - Expressing/identifying feelings I-Messages. Students will discuss and identify various feelings and when they are/are not appropriate. Students will learn how to communicate an emotion without placing blame using I-Message approach. Friday - Empathy, Mixed Emotions Students will identify with and understand other's feelings through classroom discussion, group participation and activities. Monday - 1st Hour Students will discuss nonverbal gestures, personal space and personal contact. Students will discuss and complete activities about how these 3 things affect them and how to utilize them in a pro social manner in their everyday life.
- 6th Hour Students were in the library for study hall/silent reading. Tuesday - 1st Hour Students will utilize the hour for study hall or silent reading in the library. 6th Hour Students will participate in marshmallow building challenge in teams. After time is called, students will participate in journaling and group participation discussion. *** Students will learn new vocabulary words at this time and record them in their notebooks. Monday - What is cortisol? Discuss this hormone and how it can negatively impact the mind and body over time if not controlled. Tuesday- Stressors What are common stressors for kids in the 21st Century? How do these stressors affect the body in relation to cortisol? Wednesday - TEDTALK Mindful Movement TEDTALK video about how mindful activity can make you healthier both physically and mentally. Review Mon/Tue Thursday - Aggressive Behavior Replacement Students will complete lesson as a group on how to interact appropriately when confronted (by peer, by teacher, by admin, by parent, etc) in discussion and tile playing. Friday - 7th grade gone to OKC, rest of class study hall. Monday - Tolerating Frustration - Students will participate in "boggle" game. Directions will be given only one time. Students who do not follow will be quickly eliminated. Students will discuss how they did it did not handle their frustration at "losing" "winning" or "feeling frustrated".
Tuesday - Tolerating Frustration II. Skill builder with a partner. Following directions from your partner, Make or create the correct design. As a class talk about how you felt your partner communicated with you. Wednesday - Moving at A Snail's Pace Watch video. Discuss what it means to move at a snail's pace. When might this be beneficial? Journal. Thursday - Study Hall Mon. Twister visit. The kids will get to visit with Twuster. He is a Saint Bernard and registered therapy dog.

Notebook Check-up Tuesday- Students will revisit hassle logs completed last week. As a class we will work on coping skills or possible ways to redirect the situation to make it work out in a more positive manner.
Wednesday- Role play with hassle logs and various settings. Try to help each other out with different endings to their problem. Thursday- "Working through difficult situations" Students will be given a variety of scenarios and decision making options and they will decide the best outcome for their "problem". The class will vote if they agree that the plan works. Friday- Complete "Working through difficult situations" Feb 13 - ABC's of anger

Feb 16 - Active Listening/Asking for help - Pairs / Group Activity This month we started a gratitude jar. ❤️ Each day we encourage each other to write something new on a slip of paper and put it in the jar.
